Code Blue extended in Albany and Saratoga
ALBANY -- The bitterly cold temperatures mean another Code Blue
night in Albany
.Code Blue provides emergency shelter for the homeless when the temperature falls below 10 degrees, either with or without the windchill. Liz Hitt of the Homeless
and Travelers Aid
says that more people are likely going to need a place to stay because public buildings like the library and social services are closed on holidays.Hitt also says this has been the toughest winter since they started the program 4 years ago because there have been so many Code Blue nights in a row. It is extremely taxing to the agencies involved. The Code Blue
is scheduled to remain in effect through Thursday.
